After the war General Roddey moved his family to Tuskaloosa and he went to New York, where he entered the commission business as a member of the firm of Roddey Bell & Co. After spending ten years in New York he removed to London, which place has since been his headquarters. During the last few minutes of her life, she called to her bedside her husband, children and friends and requested each one to meet her in Heaven. This ends the life of the purest noblest and best men that Alabama has ever produced. Col. John Glasscock, Tuscaloosa's oldest citizen, died suddenly last Friday. For many years he lived in Chickasaw County, Mississippi, and no man in that county was more universally respected and beloved. It was a sad calamity, and the little fellows grief knew no bounds when he saw how terrible had been the result of his carelessness. Heart disease was the cause of his sudden demise. Fighting the battles of Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday and in charging a battery on Monday, the brave and chivalrous Capt. On Wednesday evening last, Alfred Ray, much intoxicated entered the store of Green H.
